2010 BET Hip Hop Awards Cyphers feat. Kanye West, Diggy Simmons, Rev. Run, and many more...

Last night, as usual the Hip Hop awards was full of surprises, some well worth moments, but also as Necole Bitchie says, many WTF? moments! There is always something that you never expect to happen and it does or maybe you do expect for it to happen.... (moment of silence) .... well anyway back to the subject at hand...

My favorite moment would have to be Salt n Pepa receiving the "I Am Hip Hop" award. Those ladies definitely deserved that and it's about time is all I can say! (shoop!)
Also, Waka Flocka performed for 5 mins and it was him shaking his dreads in the audience and pulling people on stage like this was some sort of club appearance. (as if!) Antoine Dobson performed (wtf!), Diddy made his way on stage, and MC Hammer was there. (that's what I said...) Many others performed such as: B.O.B., J. Cole, Big Boi, and a Dipset reunion. Digital Underground also made a surprise appearance and closed the show with "The Humpty Dance" and "I Get Around".

However, I think the hip hop and freestyle heads watch the Hip Hop awards just to check out the cyphers, yes the cyphers, BET did it again ya'll! They had some of the hottest MCs going in this year. Out of them all last night, two were my favorite, the final cypher performed by Kanye West's G.O.O.D. music artists that included Common, Pusha T, Big Sean, and CyHi Da Prynce. My second favorite featured Ice Cube and his sons OMG and Doughboy, plus Diggy Simmons, JoJo Simmons & Rev Run. (Rev Run kinda ripped it..I'm not gonna even front) If you missed the cyphers check them out at:

Drake Has Big Plans for "Thank Me Later"

By now I know you have heard the Drake and Jay-Z collaboration "Off That" on Blueprint III. Drake recently gave MTV News the scoop on his 'phenomenal' (as Drake calls it) collaboration with Jay-Z and how that all went down; he also tells the status of the album.

"When I heard that beat, the drums that they had come up with, it was like, 'Man, this is a moment,' " he said. " 'This sounds like where I'm at in my life.' So, we took it and 40 did what he does to pieces of music that I see potential in — he took it to the next spot. Jay-Z's on it. The song is phenomenal. It's done now."

Here is the MTV link to the article:
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1628944/20091230/drake.jhtml?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MTVNewsLatest+%28MTV+News+Latest+Headlines%29

Not everybody can do what Drake did...snag Jigga just like that and not just once, but twice on his album as well..Drake is coming up strong...

Surfing youtube I ran across this video of Jay-Z giving Drake advice on his come up in his career:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNnOkwLlF2c

(Be aware the audio at the beginning is loud with the audience screams)

"At the end of the day, one of the biggest things I've been toying with on Thank Me Later is that it's kind of hard for me to come out and be like, 'I'm still the underdog. I can't rap about the same things [as I did] on So Far Gone, so it's just really trying to tell the greatest story that's never been told, which is the story of a rapper's come-up, and tell it without being corny or over-bragging or sounding like, 'Feel sorry for me.' It's going to be a very interesting record because I'm really going to have to dig deep and tell stories that people can relate to. But it's kind of hard, because my life is at a very different place now."

Not only is Drake looking forward to his collabo with Jay, but also he is set to work with Kanye. It won't be the first time these two have worked together, but it will be the first record they've done together. West directed Drake's video for "Best I Ever Had".

Not many liked the video saying that Kanye sabotaged Drake, but he insists that it was exactly what he wanted and wishes he only had a bigger budget. "I don’t really care about catching flack. Everybody is not gonna love everything we do… that’ll never stop me and Kanye from working together. Me and Kanye, when we do come together, it’s great. We have great chemistry. That definitely won’t halt us from giving people what they deserve." In just weeks Drake is headed to Hawaii hitting the studio to work with Kanye and No ID some more.

After mixtape after mixtape literally...we are now ready "Thank Me Later". Drake has not been able to decide a first single yet from the album, although now release date is March, so they say. There are options like "Fireworks" or "Light Up" feat. Hov, guess Drake has a lot of decisions to make...

Drake also says that "Thank Me Later" only includes collabos that 'make sense'...check out the article at:

Jay-Z "On To The Next One" feat. Swizz Beatz + Trey Songz on "Blueprint III" Tour + Feeling like "The King of Pop" + Jay and Bey's Wedding Planning

There has been a lot of talk about Jay-Z for years and most recently after seeing the new video, "On To The Next One", but really who can say. Nobody ever knows where Jay-Z is coming from; think he just likes to keep us guessing! Everybody wants answers on the symbolism in the video and wondering if Jay really worships the devil? Is he trying to say something? Has he crossed over to the darkside? What about this secret society? At the end of the day...Jay-Z is not only "the man", but a phenomenal business man...so relax!!! He may have heard too many people talking this illuminati ish and he has now caught on how to make us think and it's working for some!

Just a few symbols from the video:

#1 The adornment (crown) around his head. His joint was in candles. In the bible Jesus had an adornment of olive branches detonating that he was the Son of God.
#2 The first smoke haze. The center (white smoke) formed the nativity scene [Mary, baby Jesus..etc], but then it gets engulfed in black smog.
#3 everything is dark//"all black everything".
#4 The number three. Everything was in threes. Three skulls, rosaries, crosses, pain stripes... etc.
#5 The pools of blood, rain,.. etc

On Tour:

There is also an addition to the "Blueprint III" tour. Trey Songz, the R&B sensation, ("Trey Trey" as my girl TT Torrez of Richmond's Ipower 92.1 calls him) is now added. According to reports, Trey Songz will be performing on the second leg of Jigga's tour as an opening act when it kicks off in arenas across the United States starting the 20th of February at the Bank Atlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is currently scheduled to perform all 23 dates which the last one ends March 27th at the Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas.

On saying goodbye to 30's and turning 40:

On December 4th rap mogul Jay-Z turned 40 years old and feels like it's the new 30. With the recent success of his eleventh studio album, Jay-Z has no shame in his game about how good he feels. He quotes:

"I feel fantastic about turning 40, I'm in a great place, got a fantastic album, my eleventh number one which beats Elvis, so I'm feeling like the king of pop."

"When people get success, the often start getting rid of their immediate circle who knew them to surround themselves with yes men and women and they get lost."

"I have great friends around to keep me grounded, fame is a drug and your feet can get lifted off the ground but I try to stay centered and whenever I start getting big headed, they stop me."

Jay, what about Bey?

Source: rapbasement.com

According to Beyonce World, Jay and Bey are now adding wedding planning to their resumes. The powercouple has offered to organize British pop star Robbie Willams’ nuptials to girlfriend Ayda Field. After Williams reportedly proposed to the American actress over the holiday period, Jay-Z is already volunteering to plan the lavish ceremony, with the help of his superstar wife.

"I would be happy to help Robbie organise his wedding. I am sure he will make it an extravagant party. I had my 40th last month in the Dominican Republic. That would be a great place for Robbie’s wedding. It’s the most stunning place on earth. It has everything – beautiful beaches, scenery, golf courses – and is easy to fly guests to.
The entertainment at my party was all hot and if Robbie wants my help he should come over for dinner and Bey (Beyonce) and I can help him out. She is great at organising parties, she loves it."

What??? Luda Boo'd Up + "Battle of the Sexes" 2010

Yes you read it right...Luda boo'd up! That's what I said. I don't think nobody has ever seen him boo'd up. He has been on his grind so strong for so long with the success of the restaurant, the music label, his foundation, working on the new album, and promoting "Conjure"; he now has time. I'm happy for him and it is very sweet, just shocking.

Luda I thought you were always my boo! ...Hmmm guess not! She is a cute girl so I can't be mad!

However...
According to Necole Bitchie, Luda has been in the studio with Trey Songz working on some hotness! You already know the 2 of them together you can only imagine how hot it's gonna be. His album "Battle of the Sexes" is scheduled to be released this year, but it's now said that Shawnna has been removed from the project due to a recent fallen out. Crazy!!! Luda+Shawnna=FIRE!!! I'm so upset. The album will now feature female rappers like Nicki Minaj, Lil' Kim, and Eve.

Vivica Cries Over 50 Cent on Mo'Nique Show

I didn't see the episode, but oh boy did I hear about it! I know Vivica was truly hurt behind their break up a few years ago and she expressed her feelings on the Mo'Nique Show recently.

When asked about their past relationship Vivica went on to say:

"When I dated “Curtis”, I met him as “Curtis” he just happened to be a rap star. We went out too fast, we were very excited about each other and wanted to scream at the top of our lungs “I’m in Love”. Then people got in his ear and we unfortunately broke up. Then there was albums and songs and statements that I will say a young man made but now he has grown up….and he came to me as a man and said “I’m sorry”..and I forgave him. That was hard. And I was so glad I had a wonderful family, especially my daddy who said “He didn’t make you and he sure ain’t gonna break you”.

Check it out:

Also she mentioned how she received a surprise call from 50 asking her to be in his "Do You Think of Me" video. He wanted her to play the girlfriend who has her act together, the credit cards, and the whole nine yards; she turned that small role down to play the part of the crazy girl. She wanted to poke fun at all the rumors that were spreaded about her after the break up.

Dirty Money "Angel" and "Love Come Down"

Dirty Money consists of Diddy, Dawn Richard formerly of Danity Kane, and a singer named Kaleena. In this group Diddy reminds of the old Diddy back in the day. I respect and love Diddy because he takes risk and at the end of the day it either does well or not, but Diddy is still gonna be Diddy, one of the most successful businessmen of his time.

Diddy speaks on the new Dirty Money movement in the lastest issue of Ebony:

On Dirty Money…

The album spins pop cultrue forward, including the look of the newly introduced trio Dirty Money: Diddy, Dawn Richard from the now-defunct group Danity Kane and songwriter Kalenna Harper. The girls sport short, funky hair instead of long weaves. Their modern look is part of Diddy’s strategic reinvention process.

“I, I,, I, think the longer you’re in this game, the less urgent your presence is if you don’t know how to reinvent yourself,” says Diddy, stutters slightly. “For me, it’s important to make sure that I gave what I never gave before. The consumer always wants something new and fresh. So you have to give ‘em a new fresh you.”

In the issue Heavy D also compared Diddy to PT Barnum. Diddy is the ringmaster of some sort and always seems to be the last man standing.

Diddy will also be releasing the album "Last Train to Paris" dropping soon!
